Now we don’t advocate theft of any kind, but we can’t help but be impressed with this squirrel.

A group of campers left their jar of nuts unattended on their site, along with a bottle of whisky and some water, in Ontario.

Naturally the squirrel got whiff of the nuts (he wasn’t too impressed by the Jameson’s, though), and thought he’d help himself.

And a little thing like the lid being on didn’t stop him.

The animal used his tiny hands to push the lid slightly to the side to unscrew it, before pushing it off and delving in.

He even checked around the campsite to make sure no one was watching.

LiveLeak user yoshiegg2000, from Monterrey in Mexico, wrote: ‘While camping in Ontario, Canada, my mate left his mixed nuts on a table.

‘He kept finding the lid off and accusing us of not replacing it until we set up the camera and caught the culprit.

‘They are very smart. If you watch carefully you can see the animal scan the area prior to sticking the head into the container.’
