Badminton Tournament Held In Conjunction with HM's 70th Birthday Celebration

The dynamic duo of Abdul Halim Al-Hakim and Dodi Setiadi ruled the roost last night after they emerged victorious in the men's doubles 'A' category at a badminton tournament in conjunction with His Majesty's 70th Birthday celebration.

 

In a stiff match against Hairudin bin Mohd Yusof and Zainul Ariffin bin Mohd Yusof, the pair held their nerves for a 21-12, 21-13 straight sets win.

 

Sharing the third spot were Nurudin bin Haji Jekkeria-Mohd Shahirul bin Mohd Jenin and Kenneth Ng Boon Chong-Woo Chang Huei.

 

In the junior men's single category, Mohd Syazani Aiman bin Adnan was crowned champion after he overcame a sluggish start to defeat Masrur Fuad bin Haji Asmat 14-21, 21-12 and 21-15.

 

Ahmad bin Haji Abdul Razak dominated the men's singles category final match against Ak Abdul Halim Al-Hakim, winning 26-24 and 21-12.

 

In the women's doubles final, Zamiah binti Safar and Wiwi edged Noor Hekma Rainah Haji Rosley and Siti Norhatijah binti Safar 21-19 and 21-8. In the mixed doubles category, Mardini bin Awang Salleh and Noor Wekma Rainah binti Haji Rosley beat Mohammad Fairie Shah and Amanna Ainah binti Gapor 21-16 and 21-18.

 

In the men's veteran doubles category, Kadim and Pat Anak Ucha won shoved asidet Mohammad bin Juned and Zailani bin Yuin in 21-9, 15-21 and 21-14 thriller.

 

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi Haji Mohd Yussof presented the medals and certificates to the participants.

 

A total of 340 players took part in the tournament on July 23-30.
