MCYS to Hold Run in 4 Districts on September 18

Youth and Sports Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports will hold the 2016 Run concurrently in all four districts on September 18, in conjunction with the 70th birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

 

The venues will be at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, Mumong Sports Complex, Tutong Sports Complex and Temburong Sports Complex.

 

Six categories will be contested, which are Men's and Women's Open (18 years old and above) for the 10km run; Men's and Women's Veteran category (45 years old and above) for the 10km run; Men's and

 

Women's Veteran category (for 70 years old) 1br the 3km run; Teenage category (both male female aged 17 and below) for the 5km run; Special Needs category for both male and female (hearing and intellect) for the 3km run (only for Brunei-Muara) and the Open Fun Run category for 3km.

 

Winners of the Men's and Women's Open (18 years old and above) and Veteran (aged 45 and above) categories for all districts will receive $500 (first place), $300 (second place) and $200 (third place) along with medals and participation certificates. Veterans aged 70 (both male and female) category will receive $200 (first place), $150 (second place) and $100 (third place) along with medals and participation certificates. Teenagers category (both male and female aged 17 and below) winners will receive $300 (first place), $200 (second place) and $100 (third place) along with medals and certificates. For the Special Needs category, $150 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third place along with medals and participation certificates.

 

This event is open to all Bruneians and permanent residents, as well as foreigners who are both working and residing in the country. Every participant is only allowed one category. For open and Teenager categories, participants have to register according to their residential district stated in their identity cards. Participants under 17 years old have to get consent from their parents or guardians. Participation fee is $15, and (he registration is open from July 30 to August 27 from 9-11.30am and 2-3.30pm.

 

The form can be obtained at Royal Birthday Run Secretariat, Sports Section on 6th floor of the Youth and Sports Department building, as well as sports complex and 11( nit Ii and Sports Department district branches.

 

Collection of T-shirts and numbers will be held for three days on September 14, 15 and 17 from 9am to 11.30am and from 2 to 4pm at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium and Youth and Sports Department district branches.
