Chinese stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.01 percent at 3,366.98 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.09 percent lower at 13,751.09 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 701 billion yuan (about 107 billion U.S. dollars), down from 709.58 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Shares related to photovoltaic, dairy and liquor sectors led the gains.

Risen Energy Co., Ltd saw its shares rise by 7.34 percent to close at 23.55 yuan per share, while shares of Anhui Golden Seed Winery Co., Ltd jumped 9.97 percent to close at 14.23 yuan per share.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.06 percent to close at 2,760.64 points.
