The Riadah Berbasikal Keputeraan cycling event aims to promote a sporting culture and healthy lifestyle, while enhancing solidarity among all local communities, said Dato Paduka Dr Haji Affendy bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

"It is being coordinated with several other ministries, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Development, Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Health and the Bicycle Association Brunei Darussalam," he added.

Starting in Bandar Seri Begawan, the event will cover a route of 15km along Jalan Sultan Omar 'Ali Saifuddien, Jalan Haji Basir, Jalan Kumbang Pasang, Jalan Perdana Menteri, Jalan Menteri Besar, the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Highway, Jalan Tasek, and Jalan Kianggeh, before ending at Taman Sir Omar Ali Saifuddien.

Several activities will take place on the sidelines, including the sale of bicycle items and sports equipment.

Haji Omar Ali bin Haji Ibrahim, president of Brunei Darussalam Cycling Federation, said 70 cyclists would be taking part, along a distance of 7km, within the target time of two hours.
