Eagles, Raven G Emerged Champions of Dodgeball Tournament

The third leg of the qualifying round for the Green City Wondering Dodgeball Tournament 2016 was recently held from 30 to 31st July 2016 at Sungai Kebun Sports Complex, which is growing to become the regular base for dodgeball scene in Brunei Darussalam.
The final day saw the Eagles team as champion of the Male Category, followed by Vikings as 1st runner up, and X1 Dodgeburner as 2nd runner up. In the Female Category, Raven G emerged as champion, followed by Valkyrie in 1st runner up, and Viqueens as 2nd runner up.
The third leg was the first tournament since the festive season. Team Green City Eagles took advantage of the absence of two top teams - Team Hydra from Malaysia and local team Raven to claim their first win for the year. They narrowly beat another local team Vikings, 2-1, for the title. Raven G also took advantage of the absence of the domineering local team Target to win their title beating Team Valkyrie who has made to the final for the very first time. 21 teams in total took part in this tournament. The last two qualifying rounds shall be held around the month end of September and November.
The qualifying rounds are forthe first national championship, and the top 8 teams in the final standing after the conclusion of the 5 qualifying rounds will earn the right to vie for the title for the National Championship, in January 2017. A unique format similar to the one made famous by Australian Rule Football will be adopted during the Championship.
Dodgeball has flourished under the sun of Brunei Darussalam even before the establishment of the official governing body. The sports was brought to Brunei Darussalam mid of year 2013 and since then thousands of playershave got their hands on this interesting game played by 12 persons with 6 on each side with the team successfully getting rid of their opponents first to win the point.
