An Indian national was charged with 2 charges under Section 6 (b) of the Prevention of Corruption Chapter 131. This case was reported by the Narcotics Control Bureau to the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
The defendant Mohammad Faisal Khan aged 36 was arrested by the Narcotic Control Bureau on the 17th of April 2021, at a tailor shop in Kampong Birau, Tutong. The defendant has offered a gratification amounting to $200 to the arresting officer of NCB to refrain him from taking action against him after the discovery of drugs paraphernalia found in his possession.
On the same day, 17th April 2021 at about 1030 am at the NCB office, Tutong, the accused person has again offered a gratification amounting to $500 to the investigating officer of NCB to refrain from conducting an investigation against him. No plea was taken on the first court appearance and the case was adjourned for further investigation. On 29 April 2021, at a further court appearance at the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court, the defendant has pleaded guilty to both charges.
