The Minister of Health further informed that by the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the COVID-19 Vaccination for Children aged 5 to 11 years will be opened voluntarily.

The Minister of Health also state that the supply of specially formulated COVID-19 vaccine for children from the Pfizer Company has safely arrived in the country on Thursday, the 24th of March 2022. Therefore the COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 5 to 11 years will be opened voluntarily at the request and consent of parents or guardians in which parents or guardians will be invited to bring their children to obtain COVID-19 vaccine at vaccination centres via walk-in or slot bookings through the BruHealth application.

The commencement date will be announced in the near future. The administration of COVID-19 vaccine to children aims to provide protection to the children from the adverse effects of the COVID-19 and will not be a condition for children to enter any premises or engage in any activity. Meanwhile findings from studies recommend that children are to be given only two doses of the vaccine. The Ministry of Health will continue to monitor and investigate any cases reporting any occurrence of side effects, whether mild or severe to ensure the safety of the use of the vaccine continues to be guaranteed.
