Residents in Brunei Darussalam experienced the Zero Shadow Day phenomenon. The phenomenon takes place when the sun is exactly above a certain line of latitude. Astronomically, it occurs when the angle of inclination of the sun's declination is equal to the area of local latitude.
During the phenomenon, the sun is at zenith in the sky and its rays will make the shadow of any object fall exactly beneath it, making it seems like there are no shadows. The phenomenon took place at 12:24 in the afternoon in Brunei Muara District and Temburong District; 12:25 in the afternoon in Tutong District; and 12:27 in Belait District. The date of No Shadow Day is usually close to the equinox, on 21st March, when night and day are nearly the same length all over the world. The next similar phenomenon will occur on 10th September.
