Medan, Indonesia

Local residents found four children dead on Sunday in a fishing pond in Tinjoman Lama, Padang Sidiempuan, North Sumatra.

Local police head M. Panggabean confirmed the discovery and said authorities were still investigating the incident.

The four children, who were aged between six and 12, were residents of Lembah Lubuk Raya village in the nearby West Angkola district.

Tinjoman Lama resident D. Tanjun reported the bodies to the village head at around 11 a.m. after discovering them as he passed by the fishing pond.

"After I made the report, residents and the police immediately rushed to the scene and took the victims to the military hospital in Losung Batu," he told reporters on Sunday.
