BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Forests offer a vast array of products that are used on a daily basis. It also has great economic potentials and can significantly contribute in the economic diversification initiatives. The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism shared the matter in a keynote address in a webinar in conjunction with the International Day of Forests 2022 held virtually yesterday morning. On an environmental perspective, Dayang Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab stated that forests are critical habitats for biodiversity and are essential for life on earth.

Dayang Hajah Tutiaty also added that at the national level, Brunei Darussalam still manages to maintain a high forest cover around 72 percent of its total land area, which is attributed to the strong conservation and protection efforts for the forests as well as planting initiatives.

The International Day of Forests is themed 'Forests and Sustainable Production and Consumption'. Such webinars are organised in support of the objective of the International Day of Forests Celebration which is to gather stakeholders who value forests as well as forest resources.
