1,185 New Cases

BERAKAS

As of 25th June 2022, the COVID-19 vaccination coverage in Brunei Darussalam continues to increase with 72.8 percent of the country's population have received the third dose vaccination, while 12.1 percent received the fourth dose. Meanwhile, 73.6 percent of second dose vaccinations were administered to children aged 5 to 11; and 49.4 percent of adolescents aged 12 to 17 have received the third dose vaccination.

At the media conference, the Minister of Health also shared 1,185 new cases were reported yesterday of which 1,173 cases are the result of ARTs and 12 cases are the result of 267 RT-PCR laboratory tests. 3. Since 22nd June, the Ministry of Health has no longer shared the total number of new cases and the number of daily active COVID-19 cases. This is because the high rate of immunity among the population of the country due to vaccination or natural infection means that the number of daily cases no longer gives an accurate description of the impact of infection on the country's healthcare system. A better alternative description is through the number of cases in Categories 4 and 5 as well as vaccination rates for specific groups.

Therefore, the Ministry of Health will focus the current report on the number of cases in Categories 4 and 5 as well as vaccination rates for specific groups. However, the Ministry will share the weekly COVID-19 case detection trend during the weekly press conference. Meanwhile, the public is also advised to upload ART results, whether positive or negative to the BruHealth app to help the Ministry of Health monitor the infection situation. In general, it is estimated that at least 300,000 ARTs are done every week in Brunei Darussalam but the number of ART results uploaded to the BruHealth app is much lower.
