'My Husband Had A Vasectomy Without Telling Me - He Knew I Wanted Kids'

ENGLAND

A woman says she now wants to divorce her "lying snake" of a husband after learning he'd had a vasectomy a year before they met, and chose not to tell her.

She had assumed they'd both wanted children, given that this was something they'd spoken about on multiple occasions. Theirs was an arranged marriage, but they'd spent two years dating before the big day, getting to know each other and figuring out whether their life goals aligned.

When it came to the topic of kids, they appeared to be on the same page. They'd decided together, or so she thought, to start trying a year or so after their wedding, financial stability permitting, and had agreed that two children would be a good number.

A year after they said 'I do', the unnamed woman felt it was an ideal time to start trying for their first child, and her husband appeared to be in complete agreement.

Taking to Reddit, she wrote: "We started clocking it and did it on the correct days of my cycle. I stopped drinking just in case. But to no avail. We'd been trying for so long. It turned to eight months of trying but no results.

"Frustrated, I decided we'd go get a check-up. My husband refused. He said he didn't want to, that he was perfectly fine, and that it was better if we kept trying. So I didn't go either. I don't know why I bought into his lies."

Two days ago, the exasperated woman met with her husband's sister for lunch and ended up pouring her heart out, expressing how stressed she was and how she feared she might never have kids. She also spoke about how her husband was point-blank refusing to go for a fertility test.

She continued: "She had this shocked look on her face as she asked, 'You know he's had a vasectomy right?' I cannot tell you just how horrible it was to sit there and hear those words come out of her mouth.

"I felt stones drop in my stomach. I asked her to repeat what she'd said, hoping I heard wrong."

After heading back home, she confronted her husband.

He finally admitted he had indeed had a vasectomy and hadn't told her as a test of loyalty, telling her, "I wanted to know if you loved me enough to not cheat".

She's since packed her bags and gone back to live with her parents, cutting off all contact with the husband she feels she no longer knows him. In shock and unable to believe his deceit, she's reached out to fellow Reddit users for advice going forward.

One person commented: "Your ex is a psychopath. No one with a connection to their amygdala would consider putting a loved one through this. I've been through it and it's soul-gutting painful. Cut him off like the cancerous wart that he is.

Another sympathised: "I'm so sorry. I'm glad you found out without wasting years thinking you were infertile and are able to get out. You should send your sister-in-law flowers in thanks."
