At the sidelines of the 42nd ASEAN Summit, His Majesty also attended separate Bilateral Meetings with His Excellency Phạm Minh Chính, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia. Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

His Majesty first attended a Bilateral Meeting with His Excellency the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. Diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam were established on 29 February 1992, in which both countries cooperate extensively in the areas of trade, energy, education, aquaculture and people-to-people exchanges. Both leaders, among other things, discussed on bilateral cooperation under the Plan of Action to Implement the Comprehensive Partnership for 2023 – 2027 between Brunei Darussalam and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, including in the areas of energy, halal products, tourism, as well as people-to-people exchanges.

 His Majesty and His Excellency also looked forward to exploring opportunities towards further strengthening bilateral cooperation between both sides.
