The 'Borneo Pulau Bersejarah' Project by the Brunei History Centre through the Borneo Research Centre, penBORNEO aims to promote history, culture and heritage specifically from Brunei Darussalam, Sabah and Sarawak, Malaysia, and Kalimantan, Indonesia. Apart from that, it can also disseminate information on the country's historical background not only to the local community, but also to communities in the region. The project was inaugurated on 27th April morning, at the penBORNEO building in Kampung Anggerek Desa.

The project was launched by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. With the theme 'Sejarah Memperkasa Hubungan Seborneo', the project is one of the efforts to document research findings on Brunei's history, the Sultanate of Brunei, and the history of Borneo in the form of working papers, series of lectures and exhibitions by penBORNEO. Also present were His Excellency Professor Doctor Achmad Ubaedillah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the country, and His Excellency Raja Dato' Reza bin Raja Zaib Shah, Malaysian High Commissioner to the country.
