BERAKAS

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office in a sabda stresses that mankind is required to always prepare and equip themselves with worldly and hereafter knowledge in various fields, including certain religious practices and supplications as efforts in facing more disastrous possibilities, if disasters or trials are destined to befall which may be caused by mankind themselves. His Royal Highness the Crown Prince made the sabda at the opening of the Final of the National Musabaqah Al-Qur'an Reading for Adults 1444 Hijrah/2023 at the International Convention Centre in Berakas, 4th July night.

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs as the Chairman of the Musabaqah Executive Committee, as well as other committee members. Also in attendance was His Royal Highness' brother, His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Malik.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar. The Minister of Religious Affairs in his welcoming remarks among other matters said the annual musabaqah has become a part of religious events that also proclaims Islam as the official religion of the country.

In the sabda, His Royal Highness took note that in the more than 6 decades since the Musabaqah was first held, the country has produced generations of national qari and qariah aside from making a name in the field of Tarannum Al-Qur'an at the international level.

In the sabda, His Royal Highness said that every disaster brought down by Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala to any individual or group is a trial to assess the true level of faith of His selected subjects.

His Royal Highness in the sabda said that the success of fulfillment of faith and the soul can only be achieved by frequently reading, understanding and tadabbur of the contents of Al-Qur'an, until rights and invalidity, between sincerity and pretending can be differentiated, as well as between those upholding the truth or gamble it.

Six participants presented their readings on the first night. They were Awang Ahmad Zulwaqar bin Suhaili; Doctor Hajah Siti Wardah binti Retired Major Haji Abd Rahman; Awang Ahmad Syuja'ie bin Begawan Mudim Haji Matassim; Dayangku Siti Ummi Syazana binti Pengiran Haji Marjuki; Awang Haji Nasrul Fakhri bin Haji Yahya; and Dayang Amal Nazirah binti Haji Asmat.

Another six participants presented their readings on the same night.
