Final Of National Musabaqah Al-Qur'an Reading For Adults

​The culmination of the Final of the National Musabaqah Al-Quran Reading for Adults was the presentation of prizes to the winners and participants. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam presented the prizes. The ceremony took place at Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre, Berakas.

 

His Majesty was greeted upon arrival by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs as well as members of the Musabaqah Executive Committee.

 

Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons and brother, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

 

The ceremony commenced with a reading of the holy verses of Al-Quran by Ahmad Azfar bin Azraie from Malaysia, Champion Qari of the International Musabaqah Tilawah Al-Quran Mazamir Dawud for the under 15 category in Algeria.

 

The Minister of Religious Affairs in his welcoming address among other matters said that the Al-Qur'an Learning Programme at Government and Private Secondary Schools and Colleges is a component of the Islamic Religious Knowledge subject which uses a Transitional Curriculum.

 

Awang Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh, Musabaqah Chief Jury while announcing the musabaqah results stated that participants' quality of reading was at an excellent level.

 

Champion Qari was Pengiran Muhammad Amirul Aiman bin Pengiran Haji Marjuki while champion Qariah was Dayangku Fauziah Nadhirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri.

 

His Majesty presented the prizes to the winners and participants. The Champion Qari, Pengiran Muhammad Amirul Aiman received a Seven Thousand dollar cash prize, the Challenge Trophy; an Accompanying Prize; Participation Certificate; a Haj Package, 'Tekad Haji' account worth two thousand dollars from Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei, TAIB, Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sendirian Berhad and Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad as well as a Brunei Woven Cloth sponsored by Syarikat Little Ummi.

 

The first Qari runner-up, Awangku Adi Nazri bin Pengiran Haji Jofri, received a cash prize of $5,000; an Accompanying Prize; Participation Certificate; and 'Tekad Haji' account worth $1,500 from Perbadanan TAIB, Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sdn Bhd and Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd.

 

Awang Haji Nasrul Fakhri bin Haji Yahya came in third, receiving $3,000; an Accompanying Prize; Participation Certificate; and 'Tekad Haji' account worth $1,500 from Perbadanan TAIB, Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sdn Bhd and Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd.

 

Meanwhile the Qariah champion, Dayangku Fauziah Nadhirah, received a $7,000 cash prize; the Challenge Trophy; an Accompanying Prize; Participation Certificate; 'Tekad Haji' account worth $2,000 from Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei, TAIB, Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sdn Bhd and Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd and a Brunei Woven Cloth sponsored by Syarikat Little Ummi.

 

First Qariah runner up, Doctor Hajah Siti Wardah binti Retired Major Haji Abd Rahman received a cash prize of $5,000; an Accompanying Prize; Participation Certificate; and 'Tekad Haji' account worth $1,500 from Perbadanan TAIB, Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sdn Bhd and Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd.

 

In third place was Dayangku Siti Ummi Syazana binti Pengiran Haji Marjuki who received $3,000; an Accompanying Prize; Participation Certificate; and 'Tekad Haji' account worth one thousand dollars from Perbadanan TAIB, Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sdn Bhd and Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd.

 

His Majesty also presented souvenirs to the invited Qari and Musabaqah judges.

 

Doa Selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

 

The musabaqah is an effort to make Brunei Darussalam as a Negara Zikir of Zikir Nation.
