A man’s fish and chips went stone cold after he was left in hysterics at the sight of Lewis Capaldi staring at him.

The Scottish pop star wasn’t actually in the local chippy with Andy Thompson – but he did make an appearance… on the paper wrapping.

Mr Thompson was just about to devour his meal at home after picking up the all-time classic British takeaway when he was left starstruck by the singer-songwriter.

Well, kind of.

The 34-year-old was stunned to find that grease on the paper had remarkably created Capaldi’s face – or at least he’s convinced that’s what it is.

Before he could take a bite, he immediately rang his partner and sent her a picture to show her what he’d come across.

An uncanny resemblance? We’ll let you decide.

He told The Sun: ‘I opened up the paper and looked down as I added the ketchup. I thought, “Woah, that’s Lewis Capaldi! It’s Lewis Capaldi!”

‘I phoned my missus, Wendy, as she’s more of a fan of his than I am and she couldn’t believe it either.

‘The chips went cold because we were too busy laughing.’

The estate agent, from Paisley, near Glasgow, has kept the wrapping and said he would ‘like to send it’ to Capaldi.

‘I know he’s having a rough one lately so this might cheer him up,’ he added.

The singer, who is famous for big hits such as Someone You Loved and Before You Go, has been taking time out to focus on his health.

Capaldi was spotted taking a brisk walk with a personal trainer last month as he works on his fitness while on a break from live shows.

In a heartfelt social media post in June, the 26-year-old explained that he would be cancelling all of his 24 upcoming gigs for his Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent tour.

He issued the statement just days after he visibly struggled to finish his set at Glastonbury amid his Tourettes diagnosis.

Capaldi told fans earlier this summer on Instagram: ‘Hello everyone. First of all thank you to Glastonbury for having me, for singing along when I needed it and for all the amazing messages afterwards. It really does mean the world.

‘The fact that this probably won’t come as a surprise doesn’t make it any easier to write, but I’m very sorry to let you know I’m going to be taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future.

‘I used to be able to enjoy every second of shows like this and I’d hoped 3 weeks away would sort me out.

‘But the truth is I’m still learning to adjust to the impact of my Tourette’s and on Saturday it became obvious that I need to spend much more time getting my mental and physical health in order, so I can keep doing everything I love for a long time to come.’
