State Welcoming Ceremony

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah looks forward to continuing the work in further enhancing the goodwill and friendship between Brunei Darussalam and Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. His Majesty made the titah during a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Dr. José Ramos-Horta, President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in conjunction with His Excellency's State Visit to the country. The bilateral meeting took place at Baitul Mesyuarah, Istana Nurul Iman, this morning.
The State Welcoming Ceremony for His Excellency and Delegation was held at Istana Nurul Iman. Prior to that, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, proceeded together with His Excellency from The Empire Brunei to Istana Nurul Iman.
One thousand 8 hundred students waved miniature flags of the two countries along the route to Istana Nurul Iman.
His Majesty welcomed the arrival of His Excellency on the grounds of Istana Nurul Iman. His Majesty and His Excellency received the Salute of Honour on the Special Dais, accompanied with the national anthems of both countries and a 21 gun salute.
The two leaders then inspected the Guard of Honour mounted by members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
His Excellency was then introduced to members of the Royal Family; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-pengiran Cheteria; Special Advisor to His Majesty; Cabinet Ministers; Members of the Privy Council; Deputy Ministers; the Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force; Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; Foreign Envoys in Brunei Darussalam; Members of the Legislative Council; and Permanent Secretaries from the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
His Majesty was then introduced to members of the delegation of His Excellency, including the Vice Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, and Minister for Tourism and Environment; and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
Following the State Welcoming Ceremony, His Majesty proceeded together with His Excellency to Cheradi Laila Kenchana for the Audience Ceremony. Present at the Audience Ceremony were members of the Royal Family, as well as the delegation of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
Next, His Majesty held a Four-Eye Meeting with His Excellency, in which both leaders discussed on the further strengthening of bilateral relations, as well as issues of mutual importance to both countries.
