In conjunction with the 40th National Day celebration, the Ministry of Education held the 'Semarak Hari Kebangsaan Peringkat Sekolah' Programme. The programme was held simultaneously on 22nd February, at all government and private primary and secondary schools, colleges and sixth form centres. For Brunei Muara District, the programme was held at Pusar Ulak Primary School.

The programme aimed to instil patriotism among students and the school community aside from further enlivening the National Day Celebration. Apart from that, it can also strengthen the commitment to achieve the aspirations of the Wawasan Brunei 2035 in line with the theme of the National Day Celebration which is ‘Bersatu Mencapai Cita Negara’. Among the activities held were the reading of Surah Yassin and Doa Kesyukuran, national talks and recreational events.

In the Belait District, the programme was held at Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Secondary School, Kuala Belait. Among the activities held were the Police Cadet March Past, Flag raising and singing the national anthem.

In the Tutong District, the Semarak hari kebangsaan was held at the Tumpuan Telisai Primary School, Tutong. The programme was filled with the reading of Surah Yassin and Doa Kesyukuran. Also holding a similar programme was Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School, Tutong. The activity was also filled with the reading of Surah Yassin and Doa Kesyukuran. The programme was also enlivened with a National Day Quiz and patriotic song performance.

 While in the Temburong District, such a programme was held at the Sultan Hassan Bangar Temburong Kluster 1 Primary School.
