Stall operators are reminded to display the price tags of goods sold in the market clearly and correctly to enable customers to compare prices.  The warning was issued during an inspection at Pasar Tani Selayun, Jerudong Market, Gadong Market and Tamu Kianggeh recently conducted by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, Ministry of Finance and Economy.

During the inspection, over ninety operators of bench stalls in the markets did not display price tags and some operators displayed price tags only on some of the goods sold.  Thus, bench stall operators are warned to always comply with the Price Tag Display Order by displaying clear and correct price tags.  Failure to comply with the Price Tag Display Order can be issued a compound fine at a maximum of 1 thousand dollars. For subsequent offences, a maximum fine of 20 thousand dollars and 5 years imprisonment can be imposed by the Court under the Price Control Act, Chapter 142.
