Felda United went three points clear at the top of the Malaysia Super League (MSL) on Wednesday night with a 2-0 win over Kelantan at the Stadium Tun Abdul Razak.
With defending champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) not in action until Friday, the Fighters made the most of their opportunity against the inconsistent Red Warriors.
Uzbekistan star Lutfulla Turaev put the hosts ahead late in the first half. Francis Doe, the league's top scorer, sealed the win after the break with his eighth of the season.
Selangor kept in touch with the top two, thanks to a 2-1 win over the in-form T-Team at Shah Alam Stadium. It was a dramatic come from behind victory for the Red Giants after Patrick had put the visitors ahead 10 minutes after the restart.
Argentine attacker Mauro Olivi equalised almost immediately and with the game heading for a draw, Adam Nor Azlin grabbed what could turn out to be a vital winner.
The three points mean that Selangor leapfrog T-Team into third place and are now only three points behind the inactive JDT, whom they faced in February's Charity Shield.
PDRM FA moved into fifth after a 2-2 draw at home to Perak. Fazrul Hazli Kadri put Perak ahead in the third minute but Shafiq Jamal equalised on the hour. Lot Abu Hassan looked to have given the Cops the win four minutes from time but Nazirul Kadri struck deep into injury time to give Perak a point.
Terengganu ended a run of four successive defeats with a 3-2 win at home to bottom club Sarawak. The visitors recovered from an early Joseph Kalang Tie goal to be leading at the break but the Turtles struck back after the break.
Ahmad Nordin Alias equalised early in the second half, and with 20 minutes remaining, Ashari Samsudin got the decisive goal to ease the pressure on coach Mike Mulvey.
In the evening's other fixture, improving Pahang were held at home to a 1-1 draw by Kedah, the visitors' sixth stalemate of the season. Ahmad Fakri Saarani opened the scoring for the Red Hawks just before the half-hour but just after the hour, Gabriel Pacheco struck to give Pahang a share of the spoils and a fourth match without defeat.
The Elephants are still in trouble, however, and will slip back into the relegation zone should Penang win at the home of champions JDT on Friday.
