Sabah Railway Dept Staff Held By MACC Freed On Bail

Two assistant engineers of the Sabah Railway Department who were held to assist the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) probe into suspected graft involving state railway project, were freed yesterday.
Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie ordered the suspects, aged 36 and 38, to be released on RM100,000 bail without any deposit with two sureties.
The duo were remanded for five days since last Wednesday to facilitate the investigation under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
The commission has detained seven individuals to facilitate the probe and all of them have been released on bail.
MACC also reported that the commission had seized some RM1.6 million in cash and frozen RM5.3 million in accounts in several banks in connection with the case. — Bernama
