The Japan Embassy attaches great importance to the value of sports exchange programmes between Brunei and Japan. To commemorate the official launching of the Brunei Darussalam National Judo Federation, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Brunei Darussalam last night hosted a dinner reception at Mulia Hotel, Anggerek Desa.

 

Present was Awang Haji Amir Hamzah bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Zakaria, the Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. His Excellency Motohiko Kato said for example, last year, under the JENESYS programme, the Japanese government invited many young Bruneian judo practitioners to Japan so that they could learn the philosophy of judo and Japanese culture, while training with members of the Kodokan Judo Institute. Also present was Mr Haruki Uemura, President of the Kodokan Judo Institute.
