KUPU SB Hosted Visit to Pakistan Acting High Commissioner

Pakistan Acting High Commissioner Ahmed Ali Sirohey recently visited the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB).
Meeting with KUPU SB Acting Ra'es Dr. Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar and his team, the envoy was briefed on the- workings, establishment, faculties and areas of scholarship at the university.
He was informed that the institution is one of the oldest in the Sultanate, established in the 1950s, and that the building was inaugurated by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in 1968. The university status was granted by His Majesty in 2007.
With over 800 students and 56 faculty members, the university has collaborations with regional and extra regional universities for student exchanges and teacher mobility programmes.
The acting ra'es informed that one of the teachers studied at International Islamic University Islamabad and has contributed to student development at KUPU SB.
He said the university would be willing to collaborate with 'leading Pakistani universities in the field of teacher education, Arabic language, Islamic education, Islamic jurisprudence and Al-Quran interpretation. Moreover, Pakistani students are welcome if they would be interested in studying the Malay language.
Meanwhile, the acting high commissioner informed that Pakistani mainstream universities have faculties of education that conducts teacher training. The degree is in Bachelor of Education, Master of Education and Master in Education Management.
He also reiterated the Pakistan High Commission in Brunei Darussalam's resolve to connecting KUPU SB with leading Pakistani universities, and hopes such collaborations will help in learning and sharing best practices by both contracting universities.
The acting ra'es took the envoy on a tour of the university before presenting him with a memento. The Pakistani envoy presented a portrait of Faisal Masjid Islamabad and donated a few books for the library of KUPU SB.
