A student who received the Best Student Award in the Brunei Religious Education Higher Certificate (STPUB) and GCE 'X Level, Aliyah binti Haji Mat Dani, has high ambitions to be a professional lecturer in the field of Mathematics.

She was one of the students who received recognition from the Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, in an appreciation ceremony for excellent students by the JPI, held yesterday at the International Convention Centre (ICC).

Aliyah said that her family and best friend had motivated her to do well in her studies. She singled out her friend as an excellent motivating factor in her success, who constantly reminded her to work hard and do well in her studies.

Aliyah added that a student must never give up even when things are not going too well; they must persevere and push on to truly taste success as well as have an ambition to act as a motivating factor for others.

She has spent her religious and academic education at Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Boys Secondary School (SMALHB).
