CIPTA 2017 Roadshow Held in Kuala Belait

The Crown Prince Creative, Innovative Product and Technological Advancement (CIPTA) Award 2017 participants will have the opportunity to win up to B$8,000 in cash depending on the category enrolled while making intellectual contributions to the Sultanate.

 

As a part of stimulating interest to participate in CIPTA 2017, a roadshow was organised yesterday in the Belait District. The event held in the Kampong Pandan Community Hall saw the presence of school teachers and students as well as officials from Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd (as the main sponsor), Mukim penghulus and village heads.

 

This year's theme, 'Innovation for Sustainable Economy', highlights the importance of supporting the nation's vision of cultivating an innovative society that will be empowered to produce a diversified and sustainable economy based on a culture of knowledge and innovation.

 

According to a press release, there are two divisions for the competition, the Local and Asean which carries their own sub-categories.

 

For the Local division, the three categories which were mentioned include Category 1: Creating New Product, Process or Technology; Category 2: Modifying Existing Product, Process or Technology; and Category 3: Creating New or Modifying Existing Product, Process or Technology by Young Inventors.

 

For Category 1 and 2, cash prizes of B$6,000 will be awarded to the first place winner, B$4,000 for second place, B$2,000 prize for third place and B$500 for two consolation winners.

 

Meanwhile, Category 3 participants will have the opportunity to win cash prizes worth B$3,000 for the first place, B$2,000 for second place, B$1,000 for third place and B$250 for two consolation prize winners.

 

The Asean division carries the New Invention and Innovation Category whereby the Best Invention and Innovator will walk away with B$6,000 and a trophy while the Young Inventor Category winner as the Best Young Inventor will receive B$3,000.

 

Winners from local categories 1 and 2 will be eligible to compete with the winner from the Asean competition and win the prestigious grand prize Special Award - The Crown Prince CIPTA Award Trophy with  cash prize of B$8,000.

 

The deadline for taking part in CIPTA 2017 is on October 31 and the next roadshow will be held on July 27 at the Bumiputera Complex of Pekan Bangar in the Temburong District.
