Manchester United Defender Chris Smalling Swaps Football For Rugby

Chris Smalling was sent off for Manchester United in the FA Cup final.

Chris Smalling's tackle on Yannick Bolasie in last Saturday's FA Cup final looked more at home on a rugby pitch than at Wembley.

The Manchester United defender picked up a second booking in extra time for grabbing Bolasie but Louis van Gaal's men eventually prevailed 2-1 against Crystal Palace, thanks to Jesse Lingard's winner.

Smalling appears to have taken a shine to rugby. He was recently on a BT Sport video, kicking both rugby balls and footballs, alongside former England rugby union star Mark Cueto.

It was a part of a campaign to back local sports initiatives this summer and the United defender said: "I feel like I was better off with the rugby ball than the football."

Good stuff, Chris, but leave the rugby challenges to the pros next time.
