A 38-year-old Filipino was ordered to pay a $600 fine, or serve jail for a month in default of payment, after he pleaded guilty in the Bandar Magistrate's Court to possession of smuggled liquor and beer.
Allan Casilla Bacani kept five bottles of liquor and 29 cans of beer at a house in Jalan Mulaut Kilanas that were found when tipped-off Customs preventive officers inspected the house.
The defendant could not produce declaration forms of the alcoholic beverages to prove its legal import.
Magistrate Pengiran Shahyzul bin Pengiran Abdul Rahman presided in the case.
