TENOM

Tenom divisional secretary, Esar Andamas yesterday refuted a report on Wednesday that some 700 Umno members from 10 branches in Tenom had quit the party.

The claim that some 700 members had quit on social media was not true, said Esar when contacted here yesterday.

“Tenom Umno has denied the allegations spread on social media and describes it as baseless,” he said.

Esar said only Kalang Kanar Umno Branch chief and Tenom Umno divisional committee member, Nossil Basayu and a member of Kampung Gumisi Umno Branch, Donnysius Ansukup had quit the party.

He said their action to quit the party had no impact and would not weaken Tenom Umno.

“We do not know who they really when a photo of them appears on social media. We only know Nossil who was sitting in front and Donnysius when they made the announcement in a statement to quit Umno.

“Tenom Umno division was not surprised by Nossil’s action because we have knowm him for too long including his loyalty to party’s struggle in Tenom,” said Esar who was a former Kemabong Assemblyman.

Esar said Tenom Umno would wait for the decisions during a committee meeting next week after Tenom Umno chief and Kemabong Assemblyman, Datuk Rubin Balang returns from official duty in Kuala Lumpur.
