NeoClassic Music School student Veenea Kamalam Nair did the school proud as she bagged a total of 10 medals at the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held in Long Beach, California, USA.
Veenea, who was among the hundreds of participants from 71 countries worldwide, was also awarded the Indasoul Entertainment Long-term $10,000 Scholarship, which includes a recording deal with Indasoul Records in Los Angeles, California.
The talented student was by NeoClassic at the school during a press conference yesterday where she shared her success story after returning from the United States.
In the competition, Veenea bagged a total of 10 medals - three gold, two silver, four bronze and the Grand Finalist of the World Gold Medal - as well as two plaques for being the 'Champion of the World for R&B/Soul/Jazz Vocals with Self-Accompaniment' and `Champion of the World for Open Vocals with Self-Accompaniment'.
Veenea also received the Industry Award, a recognition that she is fit to be in the performing arts industry.
Veenea noted that her voice and piano lessons which started at an early age of three or four years old at NeoClassic Music School have given her the preparation needed for the competition.
Having been diagnosed with leukemia when she was four, Veenea believes that singing lessons helped her cope with the condition. She aspires to create better awareness about health, nutrition and childhood cancer. She particularly wishes to inspire everyone to set goals and focus on achieving them, just as she has done.
