Religious School Students Treated to Healthy Lifestyle Roadshow

The Department of Islamic Studies, Ministry of Religious Affairs in collaboration with the Health Promotion Centre (HPC), Ministry of Health yesterday organised the national roadshow on healthy lifestyle for students from 16 religious schools in the Brunei I Zone, at the Munawwarah Hall of Pusar Ulak Primary School.

 

The three-day roadshow saw the attendance of students from Pengiran Anak Puteri Masna Religious School, Pulaie Religious School, Raja Isteri Fatimah Religious School, Mabohai Religious School, Haji Md Jaafar Maun Relgious School, Kampong Kiulap Religious School, Pintu Malim Religious School, Pelambayan Religious School, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Religious School, Kampong Saba, Haji Tarif Religious School, Kampong Tamoi, Pengiran Bendahara Lama Religious School, Begawan Pehin Udana Khatib Haji Awang Umar Religious School, Kampong Setia, Sungai Kebun Religious School, PengiranAnak Puteri Besar Religious School, Kampong Peramu, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Religious School, Pusar Ulak Religious School and Sports School Religious School.

 

The event included talks, exhibition, slide show and quiz on a living a healthy lifestyle.

 

A talk was delivered by a representative from HPC, Dayang Siti Noor Rozainatul Ihsan binti Haji Rosmali and Mohd Shazwan bin Rahaman, a Universiti Brunei Darussalam Discovery Year student.

 

They spoke on the findings of the Global School Health Survey 2014 (GSHS) which was conducted among students aged 13 to 17 years old.

 

The study found that youths who do not practise a healthy lifestyle are at risk of suffering from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and stroke when they become adults.

 

The aims of the roadshow are to enhance knowledge on healthy living, promote healthiness as a daily practice and enhance awareness on the dangers of NCDs.
