The Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court has sentenced a Bangladeshi man under Section 146(1), Excise Order 2006.

43-year-old, Hadiul Islam was found to be in possession of 63 cartons of cigarettes of various brands without valid permit and authorisation at a worker's house in Kampung Panchor Mengkubau. The accused pleaded guilty and was fined $62,000 or 16 months imprisonment in default. All the contraband were confiscated to be destroyed. While, the cash from the sale of cigarettes - $2,200 and more than 50 Singapore dollars as well as a mobile phone were confiscated to be handed over to the government.
