Filmmakers Showcase Talent at Press Screening

 August 25th, 2016  |  06:39 AM  |   341 views

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Seven local filmmakers got to showcase their cinematography skills during an exclusive press screening yesterday, at the Times Cineplex of The Empire Hotel & Country Club.

The screening was held to promote the upcoming Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) TV Short Film Festival, which will make its public debut on August 27-29, at UBD's Core Residential College.

A table discussion session was held after the screening, which was moderated by Del Goh, an avid movie fan.

During the session, Haji Yusrizam, the director of 'Al-Fatihah', said that the most challenging aspect of filmmaking was conveying emotions.

His film was based on the story of his late brother. However, he advised that Brunei youths should explore new techniques, especially digital storytelling.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Lim, the co-founder of the Creative Core BN, expressed her hope for a good reception from audiences.

Her counterpart, Haziqah Omar, the Project Manager of UBD's TV Short Film Festival, added that this event was intended as a platform for the local film industry.

Also present at yesterday's screening were the members and sponsors of the Short Film Making Workshop, as well as the cast and producers of the seven films on display.
