2016 National Oratory Competition Held

Students Flora Ngu Jia Ying from Chung Hwa Middle School, Awang Muhd Zanidi bin Rusdy of Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Secondary School and Awang Ahmad Syauqie bin Haji Satia of Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College, did their respective schools proud after they were crowned the champions of the National Oratory Competition 2016.

 

Flora Ngu won the championship title for the competition's primary school category, while Muhd Zanidi won it for the secondary school/ college category and Ahmad Syauqie for the pre-university category.

 

The competition took place yesterday at the Brunei-Muara District Office's Theatre Hall in Berakas with the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Awang Haji Mohammad Sunadi bin Haji Buntar, as the guest of honour.

 

The event yesterday began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a Doa Selamat and a welcoming speech by the event's chairman Awang Haji Azis bin Haji Nayan, Acting Director Co-Curriculum Education at the Department of Co-Curriculum Education, Ministry of Education.

 

A total of nine schools qualified for yesterday's final rounds after competing in the preliminaries, with three students each representing a category.
