BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

 

A foreign man was sentenced by the Kuala Belait Magistrate's Court for two offences under Section 146(1)(D) of the Excise Order 2006.

 

54-year-old, BASRONI, an Indonesian, was found guilty for possessing 3 cartons and 15 packets of cigarettes as well as a cash money from the sale of cigarettes for the first charge and 38 cartons of cigarettes for the second charge. The accused was fined $5,000 or 5 months imprisonment for the first offence and $34,000 or 14 months imprisonment for the second offence. The accused failed to pay the fine and was sentenced to imprisonment for both charges, starting on 28th April. All goods are confiscated to be destroyed while Cash from the sale of cigarettes was confiscated to be handed over to the Government.
