399 doses of vaccine were given to children aged 5 to 11 which brings the total number of first dose vaccinations administered to 33,575 doses which is 78.2 percent. Meanwhile, 1,147 second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered to children in the same age group bringing the total second dose administered to children in this age group to 15,454 doses which is 36 percent.
Parents and guardians of children between the ages of 5 and 11 years old who have received the first dose and are at the right time to receive the second dose are welcome to bring their children for their second dose to complete the COVID-19 vaccination for children in this age group. The administration of COVID-19 vaccine to these children have been proven to provide protection against the adverse effects of COVID-19 including 'multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children', MIS-C, which can cause complications to the recovery from COVID-19 in children.
This was informed by the Second Minister of Defence at the Media Conference on the latest COVID-19 Situation at Dewan Al-Afiah, Ministry of Health. Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof also shared that the coverage rate for the country's citizens and residents who have received three doses of the vaccine is at 69.5 percent.
191 new cases have been reported, of which 189 cases were results from ARTs conducted and 2 were from 287 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours. Therefore, the total number of cases reported in Brunei Darussalam to date is 146,506 cases.
One case is in Category 4 which requires oxygen assistance and is under close monitoring. 285 cases have recovered, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 144,672. The total number of active cases is 1,613 cases that is 12 cases are currently treated in hospitals, while 1,601 are currently undergoing home self-isolation.
