PHNOM PENH

Cambodian anti-drug police have arrested three foreigners for allegedly manufacturing, possessing and trafficking more than 30 kg illicit drugs, the National Police said on Wednesday.

One suspect was arrested at a condo in capital Phnom Penh, and two others were caught in the coastal province of Preah Sihanouk, police said, adding that they were all male and apprehended on May 18.

"A total of 30.4 kg drugs and 56.5 kg ingredients have been confiscated from the trio," the National Police said on its website.

The seized drugs included heroin, ecstasy, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine, ketamine, and nimetazepam, police said.

The southeast Asian nation has no death sentence for drug traffickers. Under its law, anyone found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of drugs could be jailed for life.

According to the Anti-Drug Police Department, Cambodia nabbed 4,602 drug suspects, including 66 foreigners, during the first four months of 2022, seizing 1.55 tons of illicit drugs and 173 tons of ingredients.
