The role and contribution of women is very important, in working together to achieve economic progress, family well-being, social and national prosperity. In Brunei Darussalam, the International Women's Day is celebrated every year on 6th March, which aims to celebrate the Achievements of Women around the world in social, economic, cultural and political aspects. The matters were highlighted in yesterday's Friday Sermon titled Celebrate Women's Achievements.

The Imam or Prayer Leader said as the country progressed, the role of women in vital in national development. They are no longer restricted to the homes but are involved in various work activities outside the home, from informal economic activities to professional jobs. In line with the position of women as the core of the family and supporter of national development, women's achievement should be celebrated in various aspects. Brunei Darussalam fully recognises the importance of women's role in the country's socio-economic development, while also acknowledging the rights and empowerment of women.
