BERAKAS, BRUNEI-MUARA

DPMM FC sealed a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Garena Young Lions to get their S League campaign back on track at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last night.

Much talk over the past week has revolved on the Gegar Gegar men's slow start in the last few games.

However, Maududi Hilmi Kasmi answered the critics in the fourth minute after prodding the ball home a Paulo Sergio cross.

The Portuguese maestro then nearly produced a spectacular free-kick but the ball rattled against the crossbar.

Minutes later, Sergio found Abdul Aziz Tamit, whose cushioned header missed the unmarked Rafael Ramazotti.

The visitors needed the creativity of midfielder Fareez Farhan, whose darting run enabled him to smash a shot against the side-netting.

Young Lions forward Hami Syahin combined well with Fareez but the latter could not get a connection.

The hosts were stunned at the stroke of half-time when Syahin chested the ball before passing it to Fareez, who had the simplest of finishes to bring his team back on level terms.

Syahin and Fareez continued being a constant menace throughout the match.

Fareez nearly put the visitors ahead but saw his effort saved spectacularly by goalkeeper Wardun Yussof.

The miss proved costly as Ramazotti almost instantly restored DPMM FC's lead, nodding home Azwan Ali's corner.

DPMM FC raced to a two-goal advantage after Amirul Adli turned the ball into his own net.

The night got from bad to worse for the Young Lions defender after he conceded a penalty, which Sergio converted.
