Sunat Hari Raya Aidil Adha Prayer

Brunei Darussalam joins other countries worldwide in celebrating Hari Raya Aidiladha with the calls of takbir and tahmid. The celebration began yesterday morning with the Sunat Hari Raya Aidiladha prayer at all mosques, surau and religious halls nationwide. His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam joined the country's citizens and residents in performing the Sunat Hari Raya Aidiladha Prayer at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah.
Upon arriving, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, Yang Di-Pertua of Adat Istiadat Negara; Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs and Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.
The Sunat Aidiladha Prayer was led by Yang Dimuliakan Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Suhaili bin Haji Metali Al-Hafiz.
The State Mufti in delivering the first khutbah or sermon among other matters touched on the deeds of Prophet Ibrahim Alaihisalam in developing Makkah as a country that is peaceful, fertile and prosperous just through seeking the blessings of Allah.
The second sermon clarified on reading al-Quran which is obligatory for the living from young until adulthood. This is because reading al-Quran is a prerequisite to obtaining aid and light while in the darkness surrounding death.
Even though the world is still facing the spread of COVID-19, the country with the blessings of Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala can celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha in the new normal.
