SENGKANG, SINGAPORE

Brunei Darussalam men's national team were humbled 7-0 at the hands of Thailand in their opening Pool A match of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Hockey World League Round 1 at the Sengkang Hockey Stadium in Singapore.

Suphawong Adisuan scored a pair of goals in the second and 68th minute while Thammueangkhun Surasak scored a hat-trick (38th, 41st and 615th).

Brunei had an opportunity to restore parity before the first-half came when they were awarded a penalty corner but Karim Andi's effort sailed wide.

Manopab Varunchit and Srilit Samoethep scored a goal each to condemn Brunei to a disastrous start to the campaign.

Meanwhile, the women's managed to minimise their pain in a 3-0 defeat by Hong Kong in their first game.
The men nextface Hong Kong today at 3pm while women play Thailand again at 5:30pm.
