The Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS) will be holding the Executive Development Workshop Series in Strategic Foresight and Strategic Planning, a workshop series aimed at helping organisations formulate state-of-the-art strategic plans for growth.
With the establishment of the CSPS Brunei Futures Initiative (BFI), the workshop series combines the Strategic Foresight and Horizon Scanning into the Strategic Planning exercise to give a head start in solving "not only today's problems, but also towards creating a preferred future scenario", according to a press release.
The series consists of three workshops: Strategic Foresight and Horizon Scanning (November 22-24), Strategic Planning Using Systems Thinking (January 17-19, 2017), and Action Learning and Evaluation (March 21-22, 2017). The series also involves an applied project lasting two months between the second and third workshop.
The workshop will be facilitated by international and local experts in Strategic Foresight, Horizon Scanning and Strategic Planning: Professor Sohail Inayatullah, UNESCO Chair in Future Studies; Dr Jose Ramos, Action Foresight, Australia; Stephen Lin, Haines Centre for Strategic Management, Singapore; Dr Ivana Milojevic, Metafuture Australia and CSPS; Dr Diana Cheong, Dr Sophiana Chua Abdullah and Yuzilawati Abdullah from CSPS.
The facilitators will offer both local and international perspectives and bring with them proven track records of working with governments and businesses in Brunei Darussalam and around the world over several decades.
Using an interactive and action-learning approach, the workshop will provide participants with techniques that will "optimise their ability to understand the impact of the external environment and to crystalise and clarify visions and preferred futures for their organisations". Participants will then use the 10-step Systems Planning Model to prepare strategic action plans and learn how to drive implementation and transformation.
In a two-month applied project period that follows, participants will have the opportunity to execute their action plans to revamp the strategic plans of their respective organisations.
The workshop series will conclude with participants sharing their experiences and lessons learned from the implementation of their action plans and receiving professional evaluations of their strategic plans.
Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded a certificate of competence by CSPS and Haines Centre for Strategic Management -Asia.
