Getting married is a huge milestone in your life, and traditionally, once a couple has tied the knot, they'll both wear wedding rings as a symbol of their commitment and love. But if your partner told you that they didn't want to wear a ring once the nuptials had happened, how would you feel?
One woman said that it really 'threw' her when her husband admitted that he didn't want to wear a wedding ring, but she can't tell if she's overreacting to his preference.
She initially thought it was because "he works a manual labour job", so she offered alternatives. But when he said he didn't want one at all, she was left confused, wondering whether she was "just being silly."
On Mumsnet, she asked whether anyone else's husband doesn't wear a wedding ring.
She wrote: "My partner doesn't want one at all, and we get married this year.
"At first, I thought it was because he works a manual labour job, so I suggested a silicon ring and perhaps he could have a metal actual wedding ring put up sage and wear occasionally.
"But he doesn't want one at all and that's thrown me a little. I mean, realistically it's just a ring - but I liked the thought of seeing him with a ring on, that symbolisation that we are married maybe. Or am I just being silly?"
In the comments, people had mixed feelings about wearing a wedding ring.
ne admitted: "Neither me or my husband wear a wedding ring."
Another reassured her: "It's not silly if it's important to you. It would be to me too."
Someone else wrote: "My dad had a wedding ring but literally the only time he wore it was on his wedding day. He just didn't like jewellery, it was no reflection on how he felt about my mum or his marriage."
"Couldn't tell you where mine is", a Mumsnetter joked.
