Bruneian Athletes Bagged Gold, Bronze in Badminton Championship

TAIPEI, TAIWAN

 

Local veteran players won gold and bronze medals at the 45th World Morning Cup and Wu Wen-Ta Memorial Badminton Championship 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan.

 

The Badminton Championship was held from April 8-20. A total of 1,880 players from 15 countries participated. The event was hosted by the Chinese Taipei Badminton Association and co-organised by Taiwan Senior Badminton Association.

 

The tournament comprised three main categories by age group, namely the Open Event category, the Amateur event and the Honour Guest event category.

 

Eight players from Brunei Darussalam participated in the Amateur category and won the gold and bronze medals in the age group Mixed Doubles category: Abdul Gapar Obey and Nurliana Abdullah won the gold medals; while James Leung Wai Nyap and Kelly Tan Ling Ling won bronze medals.
