​The health care service system is growing rapidly from year to year with the tendency to use I.T. and the internet. Therefore, Nurses and Midwives must always follow the latest medical technology trends to achieve the increasing expectations of clients. The Minister of Health was speaking during the launch of the International Nursing and Midwifery Day Celebration for the Ministry of Health, at the ministry's Dewan Al-'Afiah, 14th May morning. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Md Isham bin Haji Jaafar said in addition to being competent in applying knowledge, skills and technology, Nurses and Midwives in the country need to be attentive to social values, maintained humanitarian instincts and nursing ethics at all times.

 

Yang Berhormat added the implementation of Patient Safety in the care and treatment for patients must be in accordance with the policies that have been prepared by the Ministry of Health. It is hope that the Department of Nursing Services is able to take further steps towards providing Advanced Practice Nurses to address future health and care challenges.

 

The ceremony ran concurrently with Hari Raya Aidil Fitri organised by the Department of Nursing Services, Ministry of Health. This year's Nursing Day theme of 'Our Nurses, Our Future' is in line with preparing Nurses and Midwives to address increasingly challenging global health challenges. Meanwhile, the Midwifery Day with the theme the 'Together again: from evidence to reality' appreciate the midwives in carrying out various care efforts and evidence-based practices that are able to lead to meaningful changes for the profession, women and families.
