Two Indonesian men were ordered to pay fines by the Magistrate's Court yesterday for possession of smuggled beer.

Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid handed a $440 fine each to 34-year-old Linardi Lie and 29-yearold Hasan Phang who face two weeks' imprisonment in default of payment.

The customs prosecutor informed the magistrate that the duo was caught in possession of 12 smuggled cans of beer at the Kuala Lurah Control Post.
