UTB-STE Connect 2023 Opening Ceremony

His Royal Highness Prince Doctor Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office as Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Brunei, UTB in a sabda stressed that the breadth and complexities of contemporary challenges require a comprehensive and inter-disciplinary approach, where rapid advances in technology and innovation continue to provide unique opportunities. His Royal Highness the Crown Prince made the sabda at the Opening Ceremony of the First UTB Science, Technology and Engineering, STE Connect Congress 2023 this morning at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

 

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was greeted by Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh, Minister of Education and Datin Paduka Professor Doctor Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB.

 

The ceremony commenced with the reading of Al-Quran verses, Surah Al-A'raf by Doctor Hajah Siti Wardah binti Haji Abdul Rahman, lecturer at UTB's School of Business.

 

The Vice Chancellor of UTB in her welcoming address highlighted that the biennial congress discuss and exchange ideas to create a brighter future.

 

In the sabda, His Royal Highness underlined that UTB continues to mature as it prepares to make its way to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

 

His Royal Highness in the sabda said the theme 'Research and Applications for a Better World' is both timely and pertinent.

 

Professor Datuk Ingenieur Technologist Doctor Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, UTM in his keynote address titled 'Research and Innovation in Facing Emerging Global Challenges: The What and How', among others described emerging global challenges which have led to the establishment of 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

 

His Royal Highness presented a token of appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor of UTM.

 

Doa Selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.

 

UTB-STE Connect 2023 is a testament to UTB's commitment to fostering innovation, advancing knowledge dissemination, and promoting global collaboration.
