​Brunei Darussalam became the focus of the world TODAY when the Majlis Istiadat Bersanding Pengantin Diraja or Royal Bersanding Ceremony for the son of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Anisha Rosnah binti Adam took place with the Majlis Istiadat Bersanding Pengantin Diraja and Istiadat Perarakan Pengantin Diraja or Royal Wedding Procession around Bandar Seri Begawan. The ceremony has recorded yet another historic moment that would be remembered through the ages. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam graced the Majlis Istiadat Bersanding Pengantin Diraja at Balai Singgahsana Indera Buana, Istana Nurul Iman, 14th January morning.

The arrival of His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri was preceded by the Penglima Diraja carrying the Pemuras dan Karga or musket and bullet bag, as well as the Penglima Asgar carrying the Kelasak dan Kampilan or long shield and machete, accompanied by bearers of the Alat-Alat Perhiasan Tunggal.

Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons, brothers, daughters and sisters;

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi'atul 'Adawiyyah;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel;

- His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah;

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Bini Hajah Faizah;

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah;

Also present were the Special Guests of His Majesty, among them:

- His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah and Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Almarhum Al-Mutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj;

- His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, King of the Kingdom of Bhutan and Her Majesty Queen Jetsun Pema, Queen of the Kingdom of Bhutan;

- His Excellency Dato Laila Utama Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia;

- His Excellency Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Junior, President of the Republic of the Philippines and Madame Louise Araneta-Marcos;

- His Excellency Dato Laila Utama Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore and Datin Paduka Seri Laila Jasa Madam Ho Ching;

- And Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia and Yang Amat Berbahagia Dato' Seri Doctor Wan Azizah binti Dato' Doctor Haji Wan Ismail.

The Istiadat began with the entrance of four Awang-Awang, lighting up the Dian Empat or four ceremonial candles.

This was followed by the Kasur Namat, which was brought by two Awang-Awang and placed in the centre of the Dian Empat.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan sought consent to inform Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris that the Majlis Istiadat Menjunjung dan Mengambil Kedua-dua Pengantin Diraja was ready.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib in turn informed His Majesty that the ceremony was ready to commence. His Majesty consented for the ceremony to commence.

As soon as the Delegation under command stood along the left and right sides of the aisle, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib sought His Majesty's consent.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah sought consent to invite and accompany the Royal Bridegroom. His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah subsequently left the hall, followed by the delegation under command to invite His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

The Royal Bride entered the Balai Singgahsana Indera Buana. Followed by a Pengiran Perempuan Berbaju Gadong and a Dayang-Dayang carrying a Kaskol Langguai, seven Pahawai Perempuan carrying one Puan, one Tarian, one Kabok dan Panastan, one Kiap, one Chupu, one Pasigupan and one Kaskol, as well as Dian Enam Belas carried by 16 Dayang-Dayang.

This was followed with the arrival of His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

Upon arriving at the entrance of the Reception Hall, the Royal Bridegroom was sprinkled with Bunga Rampai, followed by the sprinkling of water on the bridegroom's feet.

His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen entered the Balai Singgahsana Indera Buana, flanked by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah and accompanied by the Delegation under command.

The delegation was led by 40 Sinipit or spears carried by Awang-Awang, followed by two Dian Bunga, two Hulubalang - a Hulubalang Diraja carrying the Pemuras dan Karga, and a Hulubalang Asgar carrying the Kelasak dan Kampilan, a Dian Tunggal carried by an Awang-Awang and accompanied by two young Pahawai boys - one bearing a Kiap and the other holding a Pasigupan, Followed by Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Penyurat Awang Maidin dan Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Penyurat Haji Awang Osman.

His Royal Highness was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, the State Mufti into the Balai Singgahsana Indera Buana.

His Majesty placed the Royal Bridegroom's right hand gently upon the ROYAL BRIDE'S head. The reading of Selawat was led by the State Mufti, as 17 cannon shots resounded.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib read out the Letter of Proclamation for the Royal Bride who was bestowed with an official royal title. Doa Selamat was read by the State Mufti.

His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik sought consent to invite the Royal Couple to depart the ceremony.

His Majesty and Her Majesty consented to receive junjung ziarah from His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Anisha Rosnah.

Also receiving the junjung ziarah was His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri.

The Royal Couple also greeted Datin Paduka Seri Dayang Hajah Mariam, Mother of the Royal Bridegroom as well as Yang Mulia Awang Adam and Yang Mulia Dayang Siti Mariam, parents of the Royal Bride.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib that the Majlis Istiadat Bersanding Pengantin Diraja had been duly carried out.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib in turn graciously informed His Majesty that the ceremony has been completed.

His Majesty then signalled for the ceremony to be brought to a close.

His Majesty and Her Majesty as well as other members of the Royal Family then proceeded to a Special Chamber.
