His Royal Highness Arrives In Tokyo

TOKYO, JAPAN
His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness arrived in Japan, 7th March afternoon. Upon arrival at Haneda International Airport in Tokyo, His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness were welcomed by His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Akishino and Her Imperial Highness Crown Princess Akishino.
His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness, together with His Imperial Highness and Her Imperial Highness, then proceeded to a Special Dais, whereby the national anthems of Brunei Darussalam and Japan were played. Following that, His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness were introduced to members of the delegation of Japan, and later, His Imperial Highness and Her Imperial Highness were introduced to the official delegation of Brunei Darussalam.
Also present to welcome the arrival of His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness were His Excellency Toru Maeda, Ambassador Extraordinary Plenipotentiary of Japan to Brunei Darussalam; and His Excellency Haji Shahbudin bin Haji Musa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to Japan.
During the Official Visit, His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness, among other things, are expected to have an audience and attend a Luncheon hosted by His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, Emperor of Japan and Her Majesty Empress Masako, Empress of Japan. His Royal Highness is also expected to attend a Meeting with His Excellency Fumio Kishida, Prime Minister of Japan, as well as witness an Exchange of Notes Ceremony on Visa Waiver Arrangement.
The Official Visit of His Royal Highness to Japan is also in conjunction with the 40th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Brunei Darussalam and Japan, which was first established on 2nd April 1984. The visit also provides the impetus to further strengthen the close and longstanding relations between both sides, especially following the elevation of relations to a Strategic Partnership during the Official Visit of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to Japan in December 2023.
